Jewellery can make or break an outfit. The right piece can make a simple outfit standout, while the wrong one can throw everything off. No pressure.
I have my everyday staples—the pieces I never take off—and then there are the ones I rotate with the seasons. And, of course, the new additions. The ones that sneak in with the trends, only to become forever favourites.
Just like I love creating mini seasonal capsules from my all-seasons wardrobe, I enjoy choosing the jewellery that will suit each outfit. A new season gives me the chance to restyle my old favourites and, maybe, welcome a few new pieces into my collection.
But having fun with trends doesn’t mean I’m overhauling my entire collection. I’m just mixing in a few new pieces with my everyday staples in ways that give my outfits a bit more personality to match the season's energy.
These are the jewellery pieces I’ll be wearing this season, featuring some tried-and-true staples and some new combinations, that will freshen up my capsule wardrobe for spring.
Chain-Link Jewellery
This one’s a bit of a cheat because I never take off my satellite chain necklace. It’s my everyday staple, worn solo for most of the day. But when I’m heading out in the evening, I like to add a little extra—usually a birthstone charm and a sculptural pendant—for a layered look. So while chain-link jewellery might be trending, I’m just continuing my usual routine.
Beaded Necklaces
I started noticing beaded necklaces popping up a few months ago. The nostalgic look of colourful beads made me want to find a way to wear them. Instead of buying new, I made my own using old supplies from my studio. They look great with my monochrome outfits. If you want to try this trend, I encourage you to take a look in charity shops and thrift stores. You can usually find something for a few pound—no need to buy anything brand new.
Meaningful Charms
My jewellery box has been filling up with charms, and my current favourites is this tarot card necklace and evil eye hand necklace. The charms can be easily slipped on and off so I can switch between a minimalist cable chain or something more decorative, like a box necklace. I've also added a few birthstones to my collection, doubling up on trends by mixing meaningful charms with kitsch gems. They’re the perfect way to add a hint of colour to an outfit without a full wardrobe overhaul.
Big Brooches
I thrifted a vintage brooch from Vinted at the start of winter, completely unaware that brooches were about to become a spring trend. I originally bought it to secure a scarf (which turned out to be much bigger than expected), but now that scarves are redundant, I’m trying to find new ways to wear it. Brooches have so much styling potential. I just need to figure out how to make mine work beyond coat lapels.
Silver Jewellery
I’m hesitant about this one because I’ve always been a die-hard gold wearer. But I can’t deny that silver jewellery suits certain outfits better. While I won’t be rushing to replace all my gold pieces, I’m open to experimenting. Maybe even mixing metals—something I never thought I’d do, but here we are.
