Yeah, the capsule wardrobe rulebook can be such a trap! I definitely went through the all-neutrals, all-practical phase before I realised I missed the joy (and colour) in my outfits.
Thank you so much! That jacket is always fun to wear. And I’m so glad you like the bee necklace, I actually made it! It’s one of my favourite pieces to wear 🐝
Thank you! All my photos are taken in my apartment. That’s my living room, which is full of plants. I sometimes share glimpses of the rest of my space on TikTok. A full tour sounds like such a fun idea… maybe I’ll make it happen!
I adore the whimsy in your outfits, which comes from the images on them. That tiger jacket?? Insane, in the best way, Sophie! the floral sandals! that stunning green gingham dress! Whimsical as fuck, I say.
I am feeling motivated to pare down my wardrobe, but I still need certain things to look professional in the office, like dress pants, blazers and blouses, things I don't really wear in my non-work life.
Ahh thank you so much! That tiger jacket is one of my all-time favourites, it always gets comments from strangers too.
Whimsy is such a perfect word for it. I really think we all need more whimsy in our wardrobes. Life’s too short for boring clothes.
I’m self-employed so I have a lot more freedom, but I remember how hard it was trying to balance office-appropriate with anything that still felt like me. It’s not easy keeping the fun in your wardrobe when you’re dressing for a dress code.
Thanks again for reading and for such a lovely comment, it means a lot!
I'm in the process of reducing my capsule to 30 items (plus 10 LBD's and suits for when needed). But I am removing everything that I "should" like and sticking to only my "wants." Scary, but fun. (Just fyi, basic colors are black and white, secondary color is natural/stone, accents are blue, aqua, and blush. And the 30 target is (app) 15 tops, 9 bottoms, and 6 layers, filling in with scarves.)
This sounds like such an intentional approach. I’m curious, is the 30-piece target your full year-round wardrobe? That feels so minimal!
I have around 50–60 pieces across all seasons, which I’ve found gives me enough variety to avoid getting bored, while still keeping things interesting. I could definitely live with less, but I’d miss having that bit of creative flexibility.
Looking forward to hearing how the 30-piece edit works for you!
This is for Spr-Sum (about 7 months here), and I'll do a change out to Fall-Winter (5 months) in mid October. People often have an impression that TX is always hot, but it does get "cold" in the winter, and for me my palette pref shifts a bit, e.g. ivory instead of white.
As for creativity, that's what pushed me to try this. I "like" everything in my closet, but in spite of that I don't wear a lot of the pieces. In fact, they just feel in the way and confusing. I hear people say they have "nothing to wear," but I have too much to wear. I'm tired of dithering about "the best" choice. :D One of my three style words is "effortless," yet it's not. We'll see. I'll report.
Chic and inspiring ✨💚
Thank you so much!
I fell into the capsule wardrobe rules trap a few years ago too. I’m back to adding more color!

Your outfits are so cute by the way. Makes me want to hang out with you.
Thank you, that’s such a lovely thing to say!
I just subscribed and honestly, I don't regret it! Your style is inspiring. Might keep my eyes open for some of these pieces ;)
Ahh thank you so much, that means a lot! I’m so glad you’re here. And yes, definitely keep an eye out… half the fun is the thrill of the find!
I love that green tiger jacket! And the bee necklace is beautiful.

Such cute outfits, Sophie, but where are you taking all of your pictures? Is this your home? I love it. Would love to see a tour of your hood ❤️

Please do! If the rest of your apartment looks as good as the living room, I'm already loving it :)
